DOUBLE MOUTH Border Blacktips
A good comp indeed. Great fun had by all. The weather and sea played its part. A little drop in water temp may have slowed the bites down. Theo Pienaar was the only one to have a tussle with the sharks. Unfortunately he lost 4 to zero. Great effort though. An excellent turn out of 44 anglers for the day. It must have been difficult for some as the SA cricket was on in East London. A total of twelve different species were caught. 2 Barbels, 3 black steenbras, 4 blacktails, 2 blue rays, 7 bluefish, 13 cobb, 4 pignose, 25 sandsharks, 7 dogsharks, 1 spotted grunter, 3 cape stumpies and one yellowbelly rockcod. 72 fish in total that measured according to size limits. Theo Pienaar got the heaviest blue ray which weighed in at 9.2kgs. Derek Nicholson got a black steenbras of 3.3kgs. Johnathan got a bluefish of 2.9kgs. Dave Drennan got a pignose of 2.2kgs. Derek Nicholson got a blacktail of 1 kg. Dave Drennan got a stumpi of 1kg. Top Honors for the heaviest edible went to Collin Scheepers who got a cob of 6.1 kgs. The most points for the day was announced as Derek Nicholson however after a querie we found a little computer glitch and the top points scorer for the day was Hayden Crossley with 235.2 points. Sorry about that Ill make sure it doesn’t happen again. Top Junior was Jp Snyman who got a nice sandshark. Unfortunately the ladies fish did not measure however it was great having you ladies fish as hard as the men. Collin Scheepers took the biggest fish on dropshot, A cobb of 2.9kgs. The prize for the heaviest shark which was sponsored by Fin nor and Bilimoria was unfortunately not won.

What a day, perfect conditions! Some good fish came out all around me in the morning. I was heading for a blob until 13h00 when I caught my first scorable fish.
I’d just like to say a big thank-you to Dean, Nigel, Owen & John for making this all possible. I know there is so much work going on behind the scenes which is very much appreciated.
See you all at the PRO 220 NATIONAL
